PA CareerLink® Berks County provides many resources for job seekers.
Are you unemployed and looking for work? Are you currently working and looking for a better job? Do you want to look into upgrading your skills to get that next job? If you answered yes to any of these questions, we’ve got something for you.
Please check out our Resource Room (open Monday through Friday, 10 AM to 3 PM). This self-service center is open to the public and full of useful information to assist you with your job search. Resources Include: Internet-accessible computers, job search and career related materials and training provider materials. We also have information on apprenticeship opportunities, information on Trade Act impacted companies, materials for Veterans, on-line access for unemployment compensation, a fax machine (free) and copier (5 cents a page).
Attending Welcome Orientation is a must! Without it, you will miss hearing about the variety of services we have to offer in our office and through our partners in the community. We host welcome orientation on Tuesdays (9:30 AM) and Wednesdays (1:30 PM). Check the events calendar for up-to-date information. They run about 45 minutes. At the end of orientation you will meet briefly one-on-one with a staff member to determine your next steps. We have grouped our services so you can choose the path that best meets your needs.
- Independent Career Services: This includes our Resource Room and many on-line resources that anyone can access without staff assistance.
- Expanded Career Services: These are the workshops and information sessions we offer to the public. You can find them on our Events calendar.
- Comprehensive Career Services: Here you will work more in depth with a staff member to develop your employment plan and outline your path to your next job. Sometimes a plan includes training through an Individual Training Account (ITA) or On-the-Job Training (OJT).
- Referral to partner agencies: You may choose to have us share your information with partner agencies that provide services that interest you.
Unemployment Compensation (UC)
We do not have access to your unemployment compensation claim or information, but we can make it easier for you to access those services. Our UC Courtesy Phone in our reception area connects directly to the Unemployment Compensation Service Centers for those times when you need to speak to an agent. There are computers in our Resource Room available to claimants who need to apply for or file for their biweekly benefits. We also have the fax machine if you need to fax an appeal. You can access the UC website and the fax machine from our Resource Room during our regular Resource Room hours of Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 3 PM.
